  • C. Garcia proposed we have a booth at the NEWTOWN TURKEY TROT on Thanksgiving morning, we would be able to sell sweaters, and
  • encourage townspeople to donate.  If you are interested in helping, contact RoseAnn Reggiano.
  • HOWL  O  WEEN 2011  R. Reggiano reported no firm commitment to join forces with the Lions Club, it would be easier to maintain our visibility at FFH.  Suggested we reuse the horseshoe on Keatings Farm Rd.  She will invite a few vendors, we will have crafts meant for dog owners and the sweaters for sale.  Also a costume contest in a few styles: Scary, Look Alike and Best Overall, etc.  K. Jaeckel volunteered to help with the poster.  Time set for 11AM – 1PM.  Popcorn being the primary refreshment with perhaps cider and cookies.  If you can help please contact RoseAnn.  The date is to be either 10/22 or 10/29, waiting to hear back from the Lions Club.
  • Reggiano proposed a ‘Haunted Hay Ride’ on the FFH Campus; she is looking into the logistics and details.  A lot of help would be needed for this, let her know if you are available as soon as possible.   roseann.reggiano@newtown-ct.gov
  • PHOTO WITH SANTA:  K. Jaeckel volunteered to take photos at the Breakfast with Santa again this year.  She suggested raising the price to perhaps $10/family. If you can help with this event please contact RoseAnn.  One adult, maybe two to take money, keep the line organized and answer questions is all we need.
  • The date is 12/10/11  9:00 – 11:00  AM
  • PUBLICITY:
  • Big Thermometer going up on Main St by October 1 thru 10th at 32 Main St.
  • Getting a sign up on future dog park site.  A draft of a simple map was presented and approved.  It will be only a small portion of the sign that will be 4ft by 8ft, created by K. Jaeckel and K. Simonds after a layout is agreed on via email.  This should reduce confusion on the two sites on Old Farm Rd.
  • M. Viesto suggested we put a monthly notice of any and all events in the BEE as a press release as well as in THE PATCH.  She is planning on learning how to use our Eletter program and will make it part of the monthly notification effort.   In addition to press, the group felt it would be a positive effort to use a mailing once the final draft of the revised trifold and or envelope is complete.  In the meantime K. Simonds is going to pursue a POLL on Facebook to increase our email list and survey participants on events and ideas.
  • NEW  BUSINESS:
  • Group that was present further discussed the name change of the volunteer group to Friends of Newtown Park and Bark. Keeping the Subcommittee as-s for fiscal reasons along with the Parks and Rec support.  Those present were in unanimous agreement to change it effective immediately.  Mailings and upcoming Parade will be using the title,  Friends of Newtown Park and Bark.
